Middle Child

I sometimes feel that poor Luca gets lost in the shuffle. He isn't the baby anymore and he sees Lily getting so much attention from everyone. He turned 4 on Sat and once again for the Rosa's it was party time. With this being a holiday weekend, it was a small group but the party turned out to be very nice, the kids had a ball! Luca also had a picnic at preschool this past week so I am happy to have had the focus be on him for a few days.

A Holy Weekend!

We decided to combine Lily's birthday celebration with her Baptism. Since family was in town for Lance's First Communion on Saturday, they were able to stay to share in Lily's day on Sunday.

The Communion ceremony was beautiful ending with a live baby lamb for the kids to see and little stuffed lambs for each of them to take as a momento of their special day. Our church does a fantastic job of teaching community service and tolerance to the children which is why we love it. We then headed to Old Town Alexandria for the party.

For her Baptism, Lily wore the traditional hanbok that her foster family gave to her. After the ceremony, the party was back at our house. There was a ridiculous amount of both Italian and Korean food, both American and Korean birthday cake and for favors, guests took home a small bottle of Korean raspberry wine and cookies (both inexpensive at H mart in Annandale). In all the chaos of the weekend, we actually forgot to do the toljabee where the babies are seated in front of different objects to see what they choose, each representing things like longevity or wealth. We are so happy that our family from NY and NJ were there to share in our special weekend.
